ROTTERDAM -- Firefighters rescued a cat Monday morning from a house fire on Mariaville Road.

Firefighters were called to the home at 623 Mariaville Road just before 10 a.m. They soon extinguished the fire, confining it to the kitchen.

No one was home at the time, but firefighters found and rescued the cat. Rotterdam District 2 Firefighter Jordan Noyes pulled the unresponsive animal from the house and firefighters used an oxygen mask to revive the feline.

The South Schenectady Fire Department was assisted at the scene by District 2, Schonowe, Plotterkill, and Pine Grove fire departments.
