SCHENECTADY -- A city man was arrested this past week, accused of punching his wife in August and breaking her jaw, authorities said.

Jack Jackson, 48, of Broadway, was arrested Tuesday on one count each of second-degree assault, a felony, and third-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

He is accused of punching the woman Aug. 30, on Park Place, near Union Street, causing her serious physical injury, according to police allegations filed in court.

The woman suffered a broken jaw. She was treated at the scene by paramedics and went to Ellis Hospital for further treatment, according to the police filing.

Jackson remained held at the Schenectady County Jail on Sunday without bail.
