NISKAYUNA - A public forum on Monday afternoon's lockdown at Niskayuna High School has been scheduled for Wednesday evening at the school, district officials said on the district site.

The forum is set for 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

It will come two days after hundreds of students were held on lockdown for hours after a threatening note was found and police searched the premises.

"The forum will include a synopsis of what occurred on Nov. 5 and a discussion of what worked and what might be improved in the future," the district said.

The district called it part of the its "ongoing commitment to strengthening safety plans and procedures."

Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra Jr. and the high school administration will be present.

There will be a public comment and question segment. The forum is to end promptly at 7 to accommodate a concert scheduled for 7:30.

High School Principal John Rickert released a letter as the lockdown lifted Monday evening, saying counselors and social workers would be available Tuesday.

"There is nothing more important than the safety of our students and staff," Rickert wrote to parents. "We thank them, and you, for today’s cooperation and patience."
