Veteran Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake girls' coach Gary Bynon will be among the inductees into the New York State Volleyball Coaches Association Hall of Fame at the state tournament banquet Friday at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls.
Bynon was a prime mover in the development of the NYSVCA and currently serves as its president. He previously served as the coordinator for Section II boys' volleyball.
Bynon is in his 31st season coaching the Burnt Hills girls, and in 2016 the O'Rourke Middle School physical education teacher was inducted into the district's athletic hall of fame. His teams have won 31 Suburban Council division titles, 24 Section II championships, 20 regional titles and six state crowns in 12 title-match appearances.
His teams have compiled 725 wins, including 27 this season heading into Saturday's state semifinals. From 1990 through 2015 his teams strung together 390 consecutive league victories.
Bynon runs the Lakeside Volleyball Club and Spike Mountain Volleyball Camp.
His coaching resume also includes a Section II championship with the Burnt Hills boys' basketball team in 1991.
Longtime Argyle coach and state tournament administrator Peggy Seese is also headed to the NYSVCA Hall of Fame.
