SCHENECTADY -- An Electric City Taxi cab driver was assaulted and robbed early Thursday, police said.

The incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Brierwood Boulevard, near Union Street, when two men in dark clothing struck the driver with an unknown object, police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing said.

The suspects then fled with an undetermined amount of cash, Dearing said.

The incident was still under investigation later Thursday morning, Dearing said. No arrests had been made.
