SCHENECTADY -- A man has been arrested in connection with a gunpoint robbery of a city beverage store last week, authorities said.

Joseph S. Pannell, 37, of Emmett Street, was arrested Saturday on one count each of first-degree robbery, a felony, along with misdemeanor weapons possession and menacing.

Pannell is accused of robbing Kelton Avenue Beverages, 2 Kelton Ave., just after 2 p.m. on Dec. 13 while pointing what appeared to be a black handgun at the clerk, according to police.

He demanded all the money in the store and told the clerk not to move or he would die. Pannell then made off with cash, according to police.

Investigators later determined the weapon to be an imitation pistol, leading to the misdemeanor weapons count, according to court documents.
