High schools: Scotia wins Ballston Spa tourney title

Scotia-Glenville edged Lansingburgh 46-39 in the Ballston Spa Tournament championship game on Saturday.

Andrew LaMorta led the Tartans with 19 points. Vinny Tarino scored 10 points for Lansingburgh.

Green Tech beat Colonie 64-50 in the Colonie Tournament title game. Joshua Rodriguez led Green Tech with 15 points. Colonie was led by Aaron Satin with 12 points and Marcus Shelton with 11.

In the third-place game, Watervilet defeated Guilderland 78-68. Derrick Beason’s 25 points led Watervliet. Messiah Mallory had 18 points, and J.J. Chestnut added 16 points. Ryan Teaney’s 18 points led Guilderland. Brenden Gagan and Billy Lia’s each had 14 points.

Treylan Cortina dropped 24 points, including five triples, as Bishop Maginn captured the Saratoga Central Catholic Tournament with a 63-51 win over Corinth.

In the third-place game, Saratoga Central Catholic beat Cambridge 59-47 behind Jordan Catone’s 21 points, and Nick Condry’s 13. Cambridge was led by Ben Epler’s 21 points and Jeffrey Burke with 10.

Saratoga Springs edged La Salle 67-66 in a non-league game. Aidan Holmes scored 21 points for the Blue Streaks, Nate Chudy added 18 points and Marcus Davis had 10. La Salle was led by Sean Desharnais with 19 points and Luke Bourgault with 16.

Voorheesville beat Cairo-Durham 69-36. Joe Saia had 17 points for the Blackbirds, and Evan Ensslin added 14. Louis Laregina led Cairo-Durham with 13 points.

Westtown School defeated Albany Academy 62-52 in the Slam at the Beach Tournament in Lewes, Del. August Mahoney led Albany Academy with 25 points.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Mekeel Christian Academy outlasted Mohonasen 48-41 in the third-place game of the Mohonasen Holiday Tournament.

Avery Mills led Mekeel with 20 points, and Madison Show added 15. Mohonasen’s leading scorers were Breanna Lott with 18 points and Sam Purzycki with 13.

In the title game, Notre Dame-Utica defeated Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 43-36 behind Emma Sehring’s 18 points. Carlie Rzesotarski scored 17 points for Burnt Hills.

Ichabod Crane beat Peru 50-35 in the ICC Winter Blast Tournament led by Madie Graham’s 24 points and Riley Paul’s 17 points.

Queensbury defeated Columbia 64-38 in the Ballston Spa Tournament title game. Hope Sullivan had 23 points for the Spartans, Hailey Ballard scored 15 points, and Abby Doin added 14. Alexis Van Vorst scored 10 points for Columbia.

Scotia-Glenville edged Ballston Spa 47-46 in the third-place game. Mikyla Mitchell and Asia Winney scored 14 points each for Scotia, and Ashlyn O’Neil added 10. Ana Gold scored 11 points, and Sierra Delaney chipped in with 10 for Ballston Spa.

Mayfield beat Schoharie 41-38 in the Mayfield Tournament championship game. Katie LeGrange paced Mayfield with 15 points. Lindsey Hampton had 12 points, and Kelsey Meca scored 10 points. Hannah Carter scored 13 points for Schoharie.

The trio of Brytney Moore (13 points), Kerrigan Groff (13), and Brianna Brace (11) led Northville to a 44-24 victory over Galwayin the third-place game.

The Blue Streaks had a 41-10 shot advantage.

Elsewhere, Dale Hammond scored twice as CBA edged North Rockland 4-3. Dylan Van Epps had a goal and an assist for the Brothers, and Sean Swenson added a goal.

Cicero-North Syracuse beat Shaker/Colonie 9-2. David Clemenzi and Kyle Millington scored for the Jets.
