CANAJOHARIE - A Canajoharie woman took advantage of an elderly woman and illegally used credit cards in the woman's name, state police said.

Tricia Sanders, 45, faces one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony. Troopers arrested her Tuesday night.

Sanders is accused of using the elderly woman's credit to illegally obtain and use additional credit cards in the victim's name, state police said.

"The use of the credit cards was discovered by a friend that was assisting the elderly woman with taking care of her finances," state police said in a release.

The friend then notified police Oct. 31 and police arrested Sanders Tuesday, state police records show.

Sanders was released to return to court later. The investigation continues, police said.
