SCOTIA — Cumberland Farms on Friday opened the latest in the series of next-generation stores it is building in the Capital Region, this one in Scotia.
The 4,794-square-foot store at 222 Mohawk Ave. incorporates the design and business elements the Massachusetts-based convenience store chain is using in most of the new stores it is building, with new features to capture more of the grab-and-go food market. An older Cumberland Farms shop previously occupied the site in Scotia.
The official ribbon cutting will be held within a few weeks, followed by a fund-raising effort for a local community organization.
The company is gradually replacing all of its 600-plus locations with the new format; it hasn’t disclosed an overall cost for the initiative, but it is likely a very large investment.
