Seeds and pairings for the Section II Division I hockey tournament were released Friday, and two of the three first-round games will be played Saturday.

Bethlehem, the defending Division I champion, is the top seed ahead of Shenendehowa, Saratoga Springs and CBA. Those four teams will host quarterfinal games next week.

On Saturday in the opening round, No. 6 Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa will host No. 11 Shaker/Colonie at the Schenectady County Recreational Facility at 5:30, and No. 7 La Salle will host No. 10 Adirondack at Hudson Valley Community College at 7:15 p.m. On Monday, No. 8 GMSVS will entertain No. 9 Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany at the SCRF at 3:15 p.m.

Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa owns a 6-0 win over Shaker/Colonie, Adirondack owns a 5-1 win over La Salle, and GMSVS beat Niskayuna/Schenectady/Albany 9-1 after the teams skated to an earlier 3-3 tie. That first-round winner goes to Bethlehem Wednesday for quarterfinal action.

Bethlehem earned its second straight Delvecchio Cup championship with the best record (12-2-1) in the Capital District High School Hockey League. The Eagles followed up their league success last year with their first Section II large-school title, that coming with a 7-0 victory over La Salle.

Bethlehem has Section II's top three point-getters from the regular season in Michael Bievenue (68), Justin Chenaille (55) and Connor Carroll (37). Bievenue and Chenaille led Section II with 46 goals and 31 assists, respectively.

Bethlehem went 5-0-1 to close out regular season play, while Shenendehowa and Saratoga Springs both went 5-1.

The Section II semifinals will be played as a double-header on Saturday, Feb. 23, at Union College's Messa Rink. Union College will also host the Division I title game the following day.

As Section II's lone Division II team, Queensbury got a bye into the March 2 regionals, and will host the Section VII representative at Glens Falls Recreation. The Section II Division I winner will play its March 2 regional at the Section I winner.

The state final four at HarborCenter in Buffalo is March 9-10.
