Gabryelle "Gabby" Nigriny has her razors ready and scissors sharpened on Union Street.
The longtime hair stylist recently took over operation of Hair Razors Salon Spa and Boutique, located at 1752 Union St. in Niskayuna. Nigriny bought the business from Penny Williams, who remains on staff as one of six stylists.
"I have been looking to open my own salon since 2012," Nigriny said. "I had worked in the Clifton Park area since 2012. This past August I was approached for a position at this salon, and from there it grew into ownership."
Hair Razors conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house Friday.
Nigriny, a Niskayuna native who graduated from South Colonie High School in 2010, always knew she wanted to work in the beauty industry.
"I was always the go-to friend for hair and make-up for dances," Nigriny said. "I've always had a creative flair when it came to hair."
She graduated from the Paul Mitchell School in Schenectady in 2011 and worked at Panache in Clifton Park for four years. Hair Razors first opened on upper Union Street in 2004 and has been in its current location since 2015.
"I am a curly hair cutting specialist," Nigriny said. "I'm looking to offer a unique salon experience for every client. We carry a lot of minimal ingredient-based products, they are organic."
Nigriny also offers vegan product options.
The Hair Razors team features an esthetician for facials and body wax work. Another specializes in eye lash and hair extensions. Yet another stylist speaks Spanish, for Spanish clients.
Treatments and hair styles are available for both men and women.
