Mohawk Ambulance Service, the largest privately owned ambulance service in upstate New York, recently announced the promotions of David Gardner and Jovan E. Cruz to senior leadership positions. 

Gardner, of Waterford, was promoted to director of operations, while Cruz, of Clifton Park was promoted to assistant director of operations. 

Gardner. who has more than 24 years of experience in emergency services, joined Mohawk Ambulance in 2011 and quickly moved up through the ranks, serving as an EMT, supervisor, station leader, regional manager and, most recently, as assistant director of operations. In his new role, he will be responsible for planning, organizing, and providing administrative direction to all Mohawk Ambulance EMTs and paramedics, and will implement and enforce all policies, procedures, and standards. He is also the recipient of the company's Distinguished Service Award in both 2013 and 2014. 

Cruz has worked in EMS since 2008 and began with Mohawk Ambulance in 2013 as an EMT.

He has held several positions of increasing seniority within the company and most recently served as a chief supervisor. Cruz holds a certificate in Paramedicine from Hudson Valley Community College. He is a native of the Bronx.
