We’re on the homestretch of winter, which is usually when the season really starts to drag. 

It’s part of the reason why Schenectady Restaurant Week was first created years ago. 

From Monday to Sunday, Mar. 10, 23 restaurants will be offering a variety of three-course meals for $25. 

It’s a popular event, organized annually by the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corp., Capital Region Chamber and Discover Schenectady, that brings thousands of epicureans together. It also gives local restaurants a boost. According to the Chamber, in 2018, the event had an economic impact of $463,000. 

Around 12,000 meals have been served during previous Restaurant Weeks, according to Jim Salengo, the executive director of the DSIC. He’s expecting just as many to be served this year, if not more. 

Though there are many returning restaurants on this year’s list, Recovery Sports Grill is a new-comer. The Rotterdam restaurant will be serving up Baja tacos, burgers, crispy artichoke appetizers and more. 

With the introduction of the Schenectady Ale Trail passport late last year, organizers believe the passport will tie in well with Restaurant Week.

“Even if a brewery isn’t participating in restaurant week, they’d still be a great pre-dinner stop! Try a flight at one of our wonderful breweries and then hit your dinner reservation for a great night out,” said Becky Daniels, the executive director of Discover Schenectady. 

Restaurant Week participants will also have a chance to win a passport, should they decide to fill out a Restaurant Week survey following their meal and leave it with their server. 

The $25 three-course meals offer an incentive for locals to visit restaurants and eateries they’ve yet to try. “It’s a great excuse to broaden your horizons and check out new places,” Daniels said.
