MENANDS - State police stopped a drunk driver Sunday evening who had three children in his vehicle, troopers said.
No one was injured in the incident, but state police gave the ages of the children as 2, 4 and 11.
Troopers identified the driver as Jason Pitanillo, 45, of Troy. He faces one count of driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, a felony, along with misdemeanor child endangerment.
Troopers stopped Pitanillo at around 7:45 p.m. on Interstate 787 in Menands after observing him commit multiple traffic violations in a Chevrolet Silverado, state police said.
State police then determined Pitanillo to be intoxicated. He was taken back to the state police barracks in Latham, where he refused to submit to a breath test, troopers said.
Pitanillo was arraigned and released to return to court later. The children were turned over to their grandmother, state police said.
