SCHENECTADY - A driver fled a traffic stop in Schenectady and then crashed into another car late Tuesday morning, city police said.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle just after 11 a.m., but it fled, police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing said.

The officer did not pursue, Dearing said, but the driver continued on and struck a car at the area of Delamont Avenue and Hulett Street.

The fleeing car also hit a utility pole and pushed a parked car an estimated 50 feet, according to a Gazette photographer at the scene.

Police soon took the driver into custody. The operator of the other car was taken to Ellis Hospital for treatment.
