37 grants go to artists, theaters and organizations in Fulton, Montgomery and Saratoga counties

Saratoga Arts has awarded $125,010 in grant funding to artists, theaters and artist organizations in Fulton, Montgomery and Saratoga Counties. 

The 37 grants, which are funded by the New York State Council on the Arts, support community-based arts events and projects that will take place in 2019. These include concert series, storytelling series, theater workshops, memoir writing workshops, dance performances. 

An estimated 24,000 community members, 5,600 youth and 1,578 artists will directly participate in these grant-funded events. 

The grant awardees in Fulton and Montgomery counties are as follows:

  • Janene Bouck of Broadalbin was awarded $2,500 for Salvage
  • The Caroga Arts Collective was awarded $5,000 for the Caroga Lake Music Festival
  • The Colonial Little Theatre of Johnstown was awarded $5,000 for the 2019 Theatre Series
  • Friends of Schoharie Crossing of Fort Hunter was awarded $3,973 for Not Just for Kids Storytelling Series
  • The Glen Conservancy in Fultonville was awarded $4,000 for its community concert series
  • The Gloversville Citizens Bank was awarded $4,000 for Summer Band Concerts in the Park
  • The Johnstown Citizens Bank was awarded $3,000 for the Johnstown Mid-summer Concert Series
  • The River of Jubilee Church of Canajoharie was awarded $1,178.57 for art enrichment with kiln-fired clay
  • Janelle Krause of Johnstown was awarded $2,500 for Subterranean Realities: What Dreams May Come
  • The Lexington Foundation of Johnstown was awarded $2,500 for the Fulton-Montgomery County Art Show, and $2,500 for a Labyrinth Garden
  • The Mohawk Valley Chorus Chamber Ensemble of Amsterdam was awarded $2,410 for Harmony Bridge
  • Music on Mainstreet of Canajoharie was awarded $4,273 for Music on Mainstreet Summer Concert Series
  • Byron Nillson of Fultonville was awarded $2,500 for Songs along the Mohawk
  • The Sacandaga Valley Arts Network was awarded $5,000 for Sacandaga Live: A Celebration of Music
  • The Arts Factory of Montgomery County was awarded $1,160 to present two independent films with a filmmaker discussion and $899 for a masterpiece, remastered
  • The Village of St. Johnsville was awarded $1,500 for Concerts in the Park

The grant awardees in Saratoga County are as follows:

  • Adirondack Center Stage, Inc. of Corinth was awarded $5,000 for a 2019 Summer Theatre Workshop
  • The Arts District on Beekman Street in Saratoga Springs was awarded $4,000 for the 7th Annual Beekman Street Art Fair
  • The Ballston Area Community Center was awarded $3,000 for the Second Annual Ballston Spa Birdhouse Competition and Festival
  • CAPTAIN Community Human Services of Clifton Park was awarded $1,575 for a Memoir Writing Workshop
  • Richard Cavagnolo of Mechanicville was awarded $2,500 for a photography project called Spa City
  • The Dance Flurry Organization of Waterford was awarded $5,000 for Flurry Festival “Open Space” performances
  • Division Street PTA of Saratoga Springs was awarded $3,000 for World Music with Heard Music
  • Greenfield Review Literary Center was awarded $4,250 for The Saratoga Native Ameriacn Festival
  • National Bottle Museum in Ballston Spa was awarded $2,626 for Art is for Everyone: Fundamentals of Glass
  • Not So Common Players of Clifton Park was awarded $3,000 for A Christmas Carol
  • Galen Passen of Saratoga Springs was awarded $2,500 for Folk Song Ensemble
  • Saratoga Bridges, sponsoring Textile Studio of Ballston Spa was awarded $2,900 for the Fiber Forum on Beekman
  • Saratoga Choral Festival was awarded $2,000 for Dreyer’s The Passion of Joan of Arc, a 1928 silent film

  • Saratoga Shakespeare, Inc. was awarded $5,000 for the 2019 summer production of “Pericles”
  • The Schuylerville Public Library was awarded $2,250 for Children’s Theater Camp
  • Selvarani Sangaran of Saratoga Springs was awarded $2,500 for Organic Handicraft
  • Caitlin Sheldon of Saratoga Springs was awarded $2,500 for Refashioning Saratoga
  • The Southern Saratoga Arts Society, Inc. was awarded $500 for the Access to the Artists Program
  • Town of Malta Parks and Recreation was awarded $4,786 for the Malta Cultural Arts Festival
  • The Wesley Foundation of Saratoga Springs was awarded $2,174.50 for the Wesley Seniors’ Art Program: Van Gogh, Pollock, Picasso
  • The Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park was awarded $2,100 for Painting in Nature at the Wilton Preserve and Blues for the Karner Blues
