COLONIE - A Colonie was arrested this past week, accused of possessing child pornography, state police said.

David P. Williams, 41, of Colonie, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count each of possession and promotion of a sexual performance by a child, felonies.

The investigation began with a CyberTipline report through the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, state police said.

Authorities then got a search warrant for Williams' address and arrested him, state police said. The state police Bureau of Criminal Investigations and Computer Crimes Unit, Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Colonie Police department assisted.

Williams was arraigned and ordered held on $5,000 bail.
