GLOVERSVILLE - The victim in Saturday night's fatal hit-and-run has been identified as a 61-year-old Gloversville man, police said.

Police also said Sunday they have found and sized the vehicle involved in the accident, but were still following up on leads to find and identify the driver. No arrests had been made.

Police identified the man killed as Lawrence Douglas Irby, Jr., more commonly known as "Doug."

Irby was struck and killed at about 8:20 p.m. on East Fulton Street, between Judson Street and Littauer Place, police said.

The driver that struck him fled the scene.

Irby was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital by ambulance, but he was pronounced dead there.

Police Sunday afternoon did not give out further details about the vehicle seized, including where they found it. Investigators and officers continued to actively follow up on leads, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the accident, or has any information regarding it, is asked to contact the Gloversville Police Department at 518-773-4506.
