TROY -- Junior forward Jacob Hayhurst, the leading points-scorer on the RPI men's hockey team for the past two seasons, is transferring to another school.

Head coach Dave Smith confirmed that the 22-year-old Hayhurst, of Mississauga, Ont., has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Because Hayhurst, a Business and Management major, has completed his undergraduate degree, he will be eligible to play immediately for whichever college he transfers to.

"I can confirm that Jacob Hayhurst has made the decision to transfer based on his own personal criteria," Smith said.

Hayhurst leaves RPI on the heels of a 2018-19 season in which he scored just three goals, but had 20 assists to lead the team with 23 points, despite missing seven games in February due to injury.

While playing all 37 games as a freshman, he had seven goals and 13 assists, and as a sophomore Hayhurst had 12 goals and 11 assists.
