Members of the New York State Park Police will conduct a simulated active shooter training exercise from 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, through 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Area traffic will be notified about the training at all Saratoga Spa State Park entrances.
According to a release issued by the state's Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation department Tuesday, park patrons can expect a "noticeable increase" in visible police presence during that 24 hour period. Patrons should also note that the entire fenced in area of SPAC will be closed to the public during the exercise.
The release also indicates that weapons used while training are not capable of firing a live duty round. This exercise will focus on coordination and emergency response during several simulated active shooter scenarios.
