LOUDONVILLE — According to a tweet from the Siena College athletic department, Jalen Pickett has been selected to participate in the upcoming NBA G League Elite Camp in Chicago.

After starring as a freshman for the Siena men’s basketball team, Pickett declared for the NBA draft last Sunday. In his first season of college basketball, Pickett finished with per-game averages of 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.9 assists and 2.1 steals on his way to earning MAAC Rookie of the Year and a spot on the All-MAAC first-team.

The NBA G League Elite Camp takes place from May 12-14 at Chicago’s Quest Multisport. The camp features top players from the recently completed G League season as well as approximately 40 draft prospects, but the two pools of players will not compete against each other. Top performers from the draft-eligible group at the NBA G League Elite Camp could then gain invitations to the May 15-19 NBA draft combine.

Earlier this week, Siena head coach Carmen Maciariello said he expects Pickett to perform well in the weeks ahead. Pickett has until May 29 to decide if he will stay in the draft or return to Siena for a sophomore season.

“When these lights are on, he always shows up,” Maciariello said. “That’s the best attribute of Jalen Pickett.”

New NCAA rules allow a player to sign with an agent for the pre-draft process, but still maintain college eligibility. Daniel Curtin of Three Eye Sports is representing Pickett.
