Roundup: Rockwell's grand slam powers Tartans

Ryan Rockwell hit a sixth-inning grand slam, and the Scotia-Glenville baseball team went on to beat Broadalbin-Perth 9-4 in a Foothills Council game Monday.

Broadalbin-Perth took a 4-0 lead in the second inning on a three-run homer by Ryan Visco, one of his three hits, before Scotia-Glenville rallied. Kyle Brown had a double, single and three RBI for the Tartans.

Schuylerville topped Hudson Falls 12-1 behind a combined seven RBI from Paul Harshbarger and Ryan Yandow. Harshbarger went 3-for-4 with a home run, and Yandow went 2-for-4.

Luke Gold hit a two-run home run and a single to lift Ballston Spa over Colonie 5-1 in a Suburban Council game. Jake Manderson had two singles for the 9-2 Scotties. Matt Canastra had two singles for the Garnet Raiders, and Danny Barbaro doubled.

Christian Kondo and Ryan Ash both went 2-for-3, and Greydon Parker had a pair of RBI as Saratoga Springs beat Guilderland 6-5. Brenden Harris had two hits for Guilderland including a double.

Ben Lavery homered as part of a 2-for-3, two-RBI effort, and Shenendehowa edged Columbia in nine innings 4-3. Shenendehowa rallied from a 3-1 deficit with runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth.

Cole Hedden scattered four hits, and James Murphy had a hit, a sacrifice fly and two RBI in Niskayuna’s 5-0 win over Shaker. Justin Osborn had two hits with a triple for Shaker.

Noah Dougherty and Zack Bringhurst both went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake jumped on Schenectady for six first-inning runs in a 7-2 victory.

Drew Signore went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI, and CBA outlasted Bethlehem 14-11 in a game that featured 23 base hits.

Alexander Gannon went 3-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored to propel Mohonasen over Lansingburgh 13-1 in a five-inning Colonial Council game. Mohonasen’s Drew Coelho pitched two-hit ball. 

Danny Moshier and Derek Bender both had two hits with a double, and Bender had three RBI, as Albany Academy beat Schalmont 12-2. Nick Mesley had two hits for the Sabres.

Cobleskill-Richmondville beat Voorheesville 11-6 behind Aaron Henry, who had a double, single and four RBI, and Damon Gavett, who finished with three singles and an RBI.

Jon Weber drove in three runs with a pair of doubles to back Christian Brennan’s nine-strikeout showing, and La Salle beat Ichabod Crane 9-1. Jackson Delaney had three singles and an RBI for the Cadets.

Tyler Leon spun a three-hitter and 11 strikeouts, and Mason Snell had an RBI single as OESJ beat Duanesburg 2-0 in a Western Athletic Conference game. Porter Wilsey doubled for the Eagles.

Schoharie got two hits apiece from Ethan VanDerWerken, Cam MacDonald and Josh Scheuer in a 5-1 win over Galway.

Taylor Gifford gave up one hit and fanned 10 in five innings, Josh Nellis had two singles and three RBI, Troy Butler had four singles and two RBI, and Brady Fureno had three singles and an RBI in Fort Plain’s 17-5 win at Mayfield.

James Ostrowski went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Christian O’Brien hit a two-run home run as part of Greenwich’s 7-6 Wasaren League win at Tamarac. Dalton Maxon and Greg Mays homered for Tamarac.

Saratoga Central Catholic (9-1, 12-1) stretched its win streak to 11 games by downing Cambridge 15-2. Winning pitcher Dante Marin went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBI, and Nick Winslow went 3-for-3 with two RBI, to lead the Saints. Billy Murdick, Cadan Awad and Brian Hall added two hits apiece.

Ava Caputo pitched a four-hitter, and Sophia Caputo went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored in Shenendehowa’s 7-0 Suburban Council win over Columbia. Emily Carroll and Payton Zophy both scored twice for the Plainsmen, while Jess Patterson fanned 10 in defeat.

Rebecca Landry knocked in four runs with a double and single, and Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake beat Schenectady 15-2. Lynnaya Collier sparked a two-run first inning for Schenectady with an RBI single.

Lauren Kersch pitched a three-hitter, struck out 11 and had a sacrifice fly in Ballston Sa’s 3-1 win over Colonie. Ana Gold had a triple for the Scotties, and Paige Davis had two hits.

Natalie Blackstone scored on a seventh-inning error to break a 3-3 tie, and Emma Rafferty went 3-for-3 as Mohonasen clipped Lansingburgh 4-3 in a Colonial Council game.

Elisa Reynoso had two doubles, a single and four RBI, and winning pitcher Jess Senecal had a double, single, four RBI and eight strikeouts to lead Watervliet past Albany Academy for Girls 12-5. Kyra Vandenburgh paced Academy with two doubles and three RBI.

Ellia Dannible went 4-for-6 with a triple, Lindsay Becker and Kendal Roberts both picked up three singles, and Cobleskill-Richmondville totaled 17 hits in a 17-8 win at Voorheesville. Ella Kelly, Marissa Gifford and Rori Champion had two hits apiece for the Blackbirds.

Marissa Wheeler struck out 12 in a one-hit pitching performance, and also doubled two times and had four RBI, in Ichabod Crane’s 16-0, five-innng win at Holy Names.

Courtney Robarge homered and had three RBI, Aleigha McAllister had two RBI, and Leah VanDerwarker and Kasen LeMay both doubled in South Glens Falls’ 7-0 Foothills Council win over Scotia-Glenville. Hannah Bren got the win, striking out eight.

Jillian Botch pitched a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts and also singled twice and drove in two runs to key Mayfield’s 6-1 Western Athletic Conference win over Fort Plain/OESJ. Jenna Reese hit an RBI double for Fort Plain/OESJ. Mayfield plays at fellow WAC unbeaten Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons Wednesday.

Emma Smith pitched her second one-hitter this season and struck out 12, and Jordan Zuk hit a two-run single as Galway beat Schoharie 4-0. Smith, who took a no-hitter into the seventh, had a double, single and an RBI. Galway’s Hannah Hofman had two singles and an RBI.

Erin Salvadore gave up four hits in five innings of work, and five Mechanicville players rapped out three hits in a 19-0 Wasaren League win over Berlin.

Abby Campbell collected a double, single and four RBI in Bethlehem’s 11-8 non-league win over Greenville. Anna Cleary had three hits for the Eagles, who trailed 5-0 in the third inning.

Maddie Etherton scored eight goals to surpass 100 for her career, and Johnstown went to 8-1 in the Foothills Council with a 16-6 win over South Glens Falls.

Etherton also had an assist for the 10-1 overall Lady Bills. Johnstown’s Taryn Ringer scored three goals, and Emily Fleming had two goals and four assists. Emma Bovair had a hat trick for the Bulldogs.

Sarah Richardson scored five goals, and Mia Millikan and Morgan Ingerson both delivered two as Albany Academy for Girls defeated Scotia-Glenville 10-8 in a non-league game. Rebecca Carpenter and Morgan Nichter led the Tartans with three and two goals, respectively.
