JOHNSTOWN - A Johnstown man was hurt early Sunday after he drove drunk and slammed into an embankment, police said Wednesday.

Kyle M. Watkins, 29, of 34 N. Market St., was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated, and multiple traffic violations, police said.

Watkins is accused of driving drunk and speeding just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday, causing his car to hit an embankment and become airborne, police said.

Watkins was taken to Nathan Littauer Hospital and later transferred to Albany Medical Center for further treatment, police said.

Watkins was released to appear in court later.
