ALBANY — Druthers Brewing President Christopher Martell was named 2019 Small Businessperson of the Year for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Syracuse District.
The honor comes as part of National Small Business Week (May 5-11) and was based on Martell’s leadership, success, growth in sales and employees, and community contributions.
The Saratoga County native developed a love for home-brewed beer and brewpub culture in law school. He and his brother Brian Martell started the business in 2012. Since then, Druthers has grown steadily, from 3,500 square feet in Saratoga Springs to a combined 30,000 square feet Albany, Schenectady and Saratoga Springs.
Revenue exceeds $14 million, the workforce stands at 240, and its beer is available at off-site retailers in bottles or on tap at nearly 180 bars and restaurants across the region.
