ALBANY - The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the region.
The watch is to remain in effect until 9 p.m.
The service pins the risk as slight for severe thunderstorms. The main threat would be damaging winds, with gusts possibly up to 70 mph, the weather service said.
There will also be the threat of scattered hail up to ping pong ball size, scattered gusts up to 70 mph and the possibility of frequent lightning.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued with severe thunderstorms are possible, according to the National Weather Service.
