SCHENECTADY - A Friday night underage alcohol sales sting netted four arrests in Schenectady for selling alcohol to a 19-year-old, police said.
The city police Special Investigations Unit worked with the state Liquor Authority and Union College Public Safety to concentrate on businesses near Union College that sell alcohol, police spokesman Sgt. Jeffrey McCutcheon said.
An employee each at Union Convenience, 1502 Van Vranken Ave., Goosehill Wine and Liquor, 1529 Van Vranken Ave., Phil Englebart's Liquor Mart, 511 Union St., and Adeeb's Deli and Grocery, 766 Eastern Ave., all are accused of selling alcohol to the 19-year-old, according to police allegations filed in court.
Each agency funded their own manpower for the operation, McCutcheon said.
Those charged each face one count of unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor.
Charged were: Farrukh Salam, 36,, of Lakeshore Drive, Latham, Union Convenience; Purndeo Prasad, 57, of Van Vranken Avenue, Schenectady, Goosehill Wine and Liquor; Philip Longthon, 61, of Union Street, Schenectady, Phil Englebart's Liquor Mart; Hani Abdulla, 18, of Eastern Avenue, Schenectady, Adeeb's Deli and Grocery
