Can Zion Williamson be the new LeBron James? Many say that this up-in-coming baller has what it takes to be one of the best! Eighteen-year-old Williamson has already gained a lot of attention for his skills and background.
Zion stands at 6 feet and 7 inches and weighs 284 pounds. This North Carolina native was featured in the magazine "SLAM" at the early age of 16 and was said to be one of the best high school ball players in the country. Zion gained an enormous amount of attention and popularity for his early ball skills. Rapper Drake was even seen and photographed wearing Zion's high school jersey.
Zion's extreme talent was recognized by Duke University, one of the best college basketball programs. He was offered and accepted a full scholarship at and has shined on the court since. Zion helped Duke get to the NCAA Final 4, although they lost by one point to Michigan State. Zion Williamson is projected to be the No. 1 draft pick in the 2019 NBA draft.
Although LeBron has made no announcement regarding retirement plans, at the age of 34, he's already eight years passed that of the average NBA player and is currently the age of the average player at retirement, according to NBA stats.
Also, with James' recent injury and reduced playing time, it's difficult to see a clear path for James to hold onto his status of being one of the greatest ball players of all time. Perhaps now is the time for James to make some room for some fresh new talent.
Zion Williamson's skill, talent and discipline could lead him down the path that James has paved. The path to greatness!
