School track: Colonie, Schenectady finish 1-2 in boys' 400 relay

Colonie and Schenectady took the first two spots in the federation boys’ 400-meter relay Saturday at the state track and field championship meet at Middletown High School.

Josiah Kemp, Shai Young, Cristian Hubbard and Michael Hermance joined ranks as Colonie broke its own Section II record that it set Friday with a 41.39. The foursome won the Division 1 title Friday with a 41.52.

Schenectady popped a school-record 41.75 to gain its runner-up spot Saturday with Corey Anderson, Jeremiah Davis, Malakai Myles and Trebor Davis. The group placed fourth Friday in 41.96.

Hermance placed third in the Division 1 100 (11.01), and Kemp placed fourth in the federation 110 hurdles (14.23).

Tyler Berg of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (9:17.20) and Marty Dolan of Niskayuna (9:21.65) placed second and third, respectively, in the Division 1 3,000 steeplechase. They also finished third and fourth, respectively, in the federation results. Henry Goca of Rensselaer (9:42.70) was third among Division 2 competitors.

Guilderland (7:48.25) and Shenendehowa (7:51.61) placed third and fourth, respectively, in the Division 1 3,200 relay.

GIRLS

Mia D’Ambrosio of Schalmont broke her own Section II record with a 24.31 and placed second in the federation 200 behind Tapestry Charter standout Jada Kenner (23.83). D’Ambrosio also took second in the Division 2 200 (24.60) earlier Saturday behind Kenner (24.25).

D’Ambrosio was second in the Division 2 100 (12.09) behind Kenner (11.94), and third in the federation 100 (12.13) where Kenner also prevailed (11.90). 

Shenendehowa placed second in the Division 1 and federation 3,200 relay (9:05.54) with Hannah Belleville, Jada Dennis, Jade Dennis and Kara Sinnott. Saratoga Springs was fourth (9:09.81) in the same divisions.

Ama Boham of Ichabod Crane won the Division 2 100 hurdles title for the third year in a row (14.96), and Lucia D’Acchille of Greenwich was third (15.30). Boham was second in the federation 100 hurdles (14.60).
