Rising senior Maddie Sims and rising sophomore Hanna Strawn are leaving the Siena College women’s basketball program.

The school’s athletic department announced both departures in a press release sent late Friday afternoon. Sims was a second-team All-MAAC selection as a junior after averaging 12.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, while Strawn averaged 2.2 points per game in 17 appearances.

“We wish Maddie and Hanna the best of luck in their future endeavors,” Siena head coach Ali Jaques said in the school’s statement.

Sims and Strawn will each enter the NCAA transfer portal.

Siena went 12-18 last season. With Sims’ departure, Siena only returns one of its top five scorers from the 2018-19 campaign.

UALBANY ADDS TO COACHING STAFF

The University at Albany women’s basketball program announced Friday it had hired Kaitlin Lewis as its new director of basketball operations for head coach Colleen Mullen’s coaching staff.

Lewis played for Trinity College. After graduating in 2017, Lewis spent the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons working as an assistant coach for Wellesley College.
