SCHENECTADY - A child on a bike struck an empty school bus in Schenectady late Tuesday and was taken to the hospital as a precaution, authorities said.

The incident happened at about 4 p.m. near the corner of Brandywine Avenue and Bradley Street in Schenectady, police spokesman Sgt. Nick Mannix said.

The bus was parked there when the child ran into it, Mannix said.

Schenectady Fire Department paramedics responded and took the child to Albany Medical Center as a precaution, Mannix said.

A city schools spokeswoman confirmed the bus was empty at the time and the general information on the incident, but didn't have further details.
