SHARON - A Sharon man has been arrested, accused of rape related to a child under the age of 17, state police said.
Once he became aware of the investigation, he is also accused of discarding an electronic device that contained evidence, troopers said.
Jason T. Chase, 40, faces one count each of third-degree rape and tampering with physical evidence, felonies, along with misdemeanor child endangerment and obscenity.
Chase is accused of disseminating obscene material and of engaging "in a course of sexual conduct with the victim, who was less than 17-years-old," a state police spokeswoman said.
He then allegedly got rid of the electronic device he used to send the material after he became aware of the investigation, the spokeswoman said.
Chase was arraigned and ordered held on $4,000 bail.
