SCHENECTADY - Two city residents have been arrested in separate cases, accused in cases that together total nearly $10,000 in alleged unemployment benefit fraud, state police said this week.

In one case, Alison A. Chandler, 36, faces one count each of first-degree falsifying business records, third-degree grand larceny and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, troopers said.

Chandler is accused of taking more than $4,100 in unemployment benefits that she wasn't entitled to from August to November 2018, state police said.

In the second case, Sewkaran D. Bisnauth, 36, was charged with first-degree falsifying business records and third-degree grand larceny, state police said.

Bisnauth is accused of taking more than $5,400 in unemployment benefits that Bisnauth wasn't entitled to, troopers said.

Bisnauth and Chandler were processed and released to appear in court later,
