WILTON — A motorcyclist has been transported to Albany Medical Center by helicopter following a collision with a car on Friday afternoon, according to the New York State Police.

The collision took place on Ballard Rd in the area of Route 50. The driver of the motorcycle was 44-year-old Michael Crandall of Middle Grove. He sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.

The driver of the second vehicle was 20-year-old Connor Levy of Saratoga Springs.

An investigation revealed that Crandall had stopped for a passing school bus that had come to a stop to let off passengers. Levy failed to observe that Crandall had stopped in front of him, subsequently impacting the motorcycle from the rear. Crandall was ejected.

Levy stopped immediately, did not show any signs of impairment, and it is not believed that he was using any electronic devices. He was ticketed for Following Too Closely.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
