HAGAMAN - A Hagaman woman stole $4,500 from her grandmother after her grandmother was admitted to a nursing home, state police said Monday.

Nichole R. Burkus, 31, was charged Friday with one count of third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

Troopers began investigating May 23, after receiving a report about the money. An investigation and bank video showed Burkus took it from her grandmother's bank account after the grandmother had been admitted to a nursing home.

Burkus was issued an appearance ticket and released to appear in Town of Amsterdam Court later.
