CLIFTON PARK — The Shenendehowa High School community mourned the death of a student this week.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Garrett Meeson," according to a Twitter post from the district's athletic department Tuesday evening. Meeson was a member of the school's football program. "Garrett was loved by his teammates and coaches."

In a response to that message, Lance Meeson wrote that his family was "extremely thankful to the community for gathering in (Garrett's) memory" and "for the love you bestowed upon him."

Counselors were on hand at the high school Wednesday beginning at 8 a.m., district spokeswoman Kelly DeFeciani said.
