Clifton Park-based lawyer Christopher K. Mills has been named chair of the Committee on Character and Fitness for the Fourth Judicial District.
Mills, a graduate of Colgate University and Albany Law School, was admitted to the New York bar in 2005 and is a partner with the Mills Law Firm located in Clifton Park. He has been a member of the committee since 2011. Mills has also served as the president of the Capital District Trial Lawyers Association and as vice president of the Federation of Bar Associations of the Fourth Judicial District.
Mills has been appointed to a two-year term and succeeds Jenifer M. Wharton, who had served as committee chair since 2016.
The Committee on Character and Fitness is charged with the responsibility of investigating and making recommendations to the court regarding the character and fitness of applicants to the New York State Bar. Members serve without compensation.
