SCHENECTADY - A downed tree that damaged a power pole at Schenectady's Central Park interrupted some activities there Thursday, including the pool, officials said.

The tree fell on wires behind the Central Park administration building, causing a transformer pole to crack.

The outage caused some activities at the park to be called off until power could be restored.

Among the activities was the city school district's summer enrichment program's visit to the park. Students in the program are regularly taken to the park for swimming, tennis and other activities.

The Central Park pool was forced to close due to lack of power to the pool's pumps, officials said. The pool is expected to be back open in time for Friday's heat.

National Grid listed the outage on its site as impacting a total of 63 customers. The site estimated restoration time at noon.
