SCHODACK — A Halfmoon man was arrested Thursday after an hours-long standoff in Schodack, state police said.

Paul Gervasio, 32, was taken into custody at about 6:30 a.m. at a residence on County Route 7.

He appeared on the roof of the residence and "verbally engaged" with troopers. Crisis negotiators then talked him into surrendering. He was taken into custody without incident.

Troopers had initially tried to serve a felony arrest warrant for Gervasio at the residence around 2 p.m. Wednesday, troopers said.

A state police news release did not detail the incident further, but Gazette news gathering partner CBS6 reported the standoff began at around 7 p.m. Wednesday and continued through the night.

Gervasio was arrested on the original warrant, which charged him with one count of first-degree criminal contempt, a felony.

He was arraigned in Halfmoon Town Court and ordered held.

No charges were filed related to the standoff.
