1921: Ballston Spa Police Chief James J. O'Brien escapes serious injury when the steering gear of his touring car locks and he drives into a tree.

1952: American Locomotive Co. announces plans to lay off 112 workers from its Niskayuna tank modification plant. Alco officials say the move is not related to a two-day walkout by 400 workers a week earlier.

1965: Burglars chop their way through the roof of the Carl Co. department store in Willowbrook Plaza shopping center in Glenville, escaping with $2,800 in cash.
