In celebration of The Daily Gazette's 125th anniversary, the newspaper will publish newsworthy items from past editions and past decades.

On August 8

1921: Construction begins on a bridge connecting Ontario Street in Cohoes with 112th Street in North Troy. The bridge will replace one destroyed by fire a year earlier.

1959: McClumpha's grocery store, a 100-year fixture in Amsterdam, closes.

1933: Striking dairy farmers, armed with rifles, fire a dozen shots at eight tanker trucks of milk near Little Falls. Troopers accompanying the convoy return about 300 rounds of fire.
