VILLAGE OF BROADALBIN - All Village of Broadalbin water customers have been placed under a boil water order due to a water main break, officials said.

The water main break happened on North Second Avenue, officials said.

Officials called the boil water order precautionary due to work on the village water main. The order is to remain in effect until satisfactory results are received from two water samples, officials said.

With that, the order may be lifted as early as Thursday or Friday, officials said.

Those under a boil water order should not drink the water without boiling it first. All water should be boiled for one minute and let to cool before using. Residents can also use bottled water.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water, local officials have said in past orders.
