MECHANICVILLE — A Mechanicville man stands accused of seriously injuring a man behind a local business last week, police said Tuesday.

Matthew C. Kahan, 35, was charged Tuesday with one count of second-degree assault, a felony, in connection with the July 30 incident, police said.

Police were called that day to the rear of a North Main Street business and arrived to find a small crowd near a man injured on the ground.

Police described the man's injuries as significant and said they required the man to be admitted to Albany Medical Center. He is expected to recover, police said.

Officers then determined Kahan caused the injuries, police said. He was arraigned and released to return to court later.
