SCHENECTADY - Several people have been taken into custody in Schenectady in connection with an Albany robbery investigation, Schenectady police said.

Police in Albany traced the suspects in the robbery to an address on Division Street in Schenectady Thursday afternoon.

Police could be seen detaining at least five people at the scene.

A Schenectady police spokesman said the individuals were being held for police in Albany.

The Schenectady department’s Special Operations Response team could then be seen going into the building just after 3 p.m. to ensure no one else was inside.

Without immediately connecting it to the Schenectady incident, Albany police reported two men went into Ritmo’s Barber Shop, 259 New Scotland Avenue, and robbed it at about 1 p.m. Thursday armed with what appeared to be a handgun, police said.

The suspects robbed both the store and customers, police said. No injuries were reported.

The Division Street incident had the street closed between State and Becker streets.

The stretch has since reopened.
