ALBANY -- A Schenectady man was indicted this past week, accused of sexually exploiting a child last year in Schenectady County, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Robert Kirk, 36, was indicted on two counts of sexual exploitation of children, one count of distribution of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography.

Kirk is accused of sexually exploiting the child to create child pornography in Schenectady County in July 2018, according to the indictment.

Kirk was arrested July 26, 2018 and has been in custody since, officials said. If convicted, he would face at least 15 years in federal prison with up to 30 years on the sexual exploitation counts alone, officials said.

This case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations, with assistance from the New York State Police, and is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alicia Giglio Suarez.
