NISKAYUNA - Niskayuna police are investigating an unattended death of a 44-year-old woman found Saturday in a St. David's Lane home, police said.
An autopsy was expected to be conducted Sunday, police said.
Police were called to the home at 959 St. David's Lane at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday by a friend of the woman concerned for her welfare, Deputy Niskayuna Police Chief Michael Stevens said.
Police arrived and found the woman inside the residence deceased, Stevens said.
Stevens called the investigation one into an unattended death. Police were in the process Sunday of notifying the woman's family members, Stevens said.
He declined to characterize it further, and said there is no concern for neighbors or the community related to the investigation.
Police remained on scene into the afternoon Sunday. Stevens said that is standard practice in unattended death cases until more is learned about a death. The state police Forensic Investigation Unit was assisting.
