AMSTERDAM - An Amsterdam man has been arrested, accused in a weekend knifepoint robbery of an Amsterdam Stewart's, police said.
Jose O. Rivera-Ramos, 31, of 1351 Route 5S, Room 220, faces one count of first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies.
Rivera-Ramos is accused of robbing the Stewart's at 152 Market St., just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday while displaying a utility-style knife, police said.
Police, sheriff's deputies and state police saturated the area afterward, but couldn't locate him. Police later identified Rivera-Ramos via store surveillance video, police said.
Detectives spotted Rivera-Ramos Tuesday afternoon on McElwaine Avenue and took him into custody without incident, police said. He then made admissions of guilt to detectives, police said.
Rivera-Ramos was arraigned and ordered held without bail.
