HADLEY - A Hadley man has been arrested, accused of providing alcohol to a 16-year-old who then died in an alcohol-related June crash, Saratoga County Sheriff's officials said Wednesday.

Killed in the June 29 crash on Antone Mountain Road in Hadley was Hayden L. Bush, 16, of Luzerne. Sheriff's investigators determined that speed, driver inattention and alcohol played roles in the crash.

Investigators also looked into where the alcohol came from. Investigators then determined that Matthew J. Gifford, of Third Avenue, Hadley, purchased the alcohol and provided it to Bush, which Bush then consumed prior to getting behind the wheel and driving that day, officials said.

Gifford faces one count of unlawfully dealing with a minor, a misdemeanor.

He was processed and released to appear in court later.
