MALTA -- One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday evening on Route 9 in Malta, Saratoga County Sheriff's officials said.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. at Cherry Choke Road when a car driven by Richard E. Henzel, 85, of Ossining, made a left turn toward Cherry Choke Road when his vehicle hit a car driven by Erin Mayette, 36, of Porter Corners, officials said.

Richard Henzel and another passenger in his vehicle were taken to Saratoga Hospital. Mayette and the three passengers in her vehicle were also taken to Saratoga Hospital, officials said.

Killed in the crash was Adrienne Henzel, 80, of Ossining, officials said. She was taken to Saratoga Hospital, where she later died.

Six others suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, officials said.

Investigators determined Richard Henzel caused the crash by failing to yield the right of way to Mayette while turning. Investigators cited him for failing to yield the right of way to an oncoming vehicle.

Correction 4:38 p.m.: This story has been updated with the corrected spelling of the name of the woman killed in the crash, Adrienne Henzel.
