MALTA - Two people were injured in a Saturday evening crash in Malta after the traffic lights went out, Saratoga County Sheriff's officials said.

One driver was taken to Albany Medical Center and was listed in stable condition Sunday, sheriff's officials said. The other driver was evaluated at the scene and declined further medical attention.

The crash happened just before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Round Lake Road and Eastline Road, officials said.

Investigators determined James J. Nickerson, 46, of Ballston Spa, had been driving east on Round Lake Road when his car was struck by a vehicle driven by Susanne G. Semo, 77, of Ballston Lake, who had been headed south on Eastline, officials said.

Both vehicles passed through the intersection without stopping due to the traffic lights being not operational at the time, officials said.

Nickerson was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. He was in stable condition Sunday. Semo declined further medical attention at the scene.

Investigators cited both drivers for failure to yield the right-of-way, officials said.
