No injuries reported in early Monday morning blaze

GLOVERSVILLE — A two-family structure was heavily damaged following a fire early Monday.

All four people home at the time of the fire at 4 Prospect Place escaped unharmed, authorities said.

The Gloversville and Johnstown fire departments were dispatched to the scene at 1:21 a.m. Monday morning.

Fire damage was contained to the rear of the first-floor apartment, exterior porch, exterior stairs and first-floor kitchen, according to the Gloversville Fire Department, who responded with the Johnstown Fire Department.

A storage shed and an adjacent neighbor’s garage were both threatened by the rapidly progressing fire, officials said.

American Red Cross aided those displaced by the fire.

The cause remains under investigation.
